Oar Making Workshop

Instructor: Clint Chase from the Woodenboat School

Come learn to make oars with Clint Chase, an instructor at the Woodenboat School in Brooklin Maine and long-time boatbuilder. The course will cover wood selection, oar lofting, layout and patterning. Students will complete at least one oar (two if they’re good!) over the course of the weekend. Clint will demonstrate some of the finer points of oar balancing and design. The course takes place at Lowell’s Boat Shop in our fully equipped classroom. Bring your tools if you have them, we have plenty if you don’t.
