We Did It! We WON!
American Express and Partners in Preservation made the announcement for our online voting contest:
Lowell's Boat Shop has received FULL FUNDING for its preservation grant!
Lowell's Boat Shop received $86,220. We could not be more thrilled! This money is going to help us restore our shop, provide for roofing repairs, siding repairs, painting and window renovations. Oh, and heating for our classroom! (All of you who want to take a boat building class can now do so without seven sweaters on! Join today!)

The staff at LBS likes to fancy ourselves pretty capable people with a lot of Yankee ingenuity. We'd like to take full credit for this achievement. However our incredible honesty prevents us from doing this. The plain truth of the matter is we could not have won this without YOU! Your votes, your support, your letters, your pictures, your stories, your help in getting the word out, your participation in our events.

This grant is a MAJOR accomplishment for such a small organization. (You have no idea!) We really wowed all the judges and American Express. The attendance and vitality at the Open Houses was mentioned as a watershed event for many of the judges. Coming in #8 wasn't too shabby either!

We cannot thank you enough. Winning the award is great, but doing it through the support of our members and the community really makes it special. We hope you understand our appreciation for the many hours you gave to vote and to help us over the last few months. Take pride in your accomplishment!
